THE team behind Cumbria’s fastest-growing PR and marketing agency is set to roll up their sleeves for charity.
Staff at 32West will each donate a day to a good cause or not-for-profit organisation, ensuring the extra day in February is put to good use.
Employees of the business, based in south Cumbria, will also receive a Leap Year bonus in their paypackets, after bosses decided to reward them for the additional calendar day.
Director James Higgins said: “So much can be achieved in a working day and we want to put that time to good use, hence our decision to donate it to charity.
“We will work as a team to help with a project, one-off piece of work, or simply day-to-day running of a good cause which would benefit from a boost.
“We are now inviting organisations which have charitable status or are set up as not-for-profit entities to get in touch and let us know how we can help.
“We will hold an internal vote to decide which proposal best fits the skills of the 32West team - and that could be our skills in a business sense, or our out-of office capabilities which include everything from cleaning to decorating and DIY.”
32West was founded in May 2018 and now has seven members of staff. It has clients across multiple sectors located across the UK. Among them are React Engineering, Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors, Eco Group, Lakeland Inns, Createc, Forth Engineering, the Holker Group, The Access Platform and Barrow Borough Council.
In the 2019/20 financial year, 32West is projecting an increase in turnover of more than 100 per cent. And last year the company was shortlisted in the best new business category of the in-Cumbria business awards.
Bosses believe the successes to date are down to the hard work and dedication shown by members of the team.
“Finding great people is a challenge felt by businesses, not just in Cumbria, but across the UK,” said James.
“So when you do find them, it’s really important to ensure those colleagues feel valued and find coming into work is a positive experience.
“That’s something we are very passionate about at 32West and there are so many ways to achieve that. The extra day’s pay in recognition of the leap year was just a small gesture on our part, but one which hopefully has contributed to our overall goal of making 32West a great place to work.
“Achieving that is great for our clients too, because they are working with a happy, engaged team who will do everything in their power to ensure they deliver.”
